The Mockingbird PhilosophyAt Mockingbird, we value the therapeutic relationship. When clients feel safe, comfortable, and supported with their counselor, they are able to make more strides towards personal goals and living the life that they want to live. We meet clients where they are and show up in an authentic and "real" way - no therapist robots here! People are not one-size-fits-all, and neither is our counseling process. Treatment modalities are selected in a trauma-informed and collaborative way based on clients' needs, preferences, and comfort level. We strongly believe that it is the counselor's job to help identify, affirm, and bolster clients' areas of strength so that they can use these to work towards mitigating needs and symptoms. A good counselor supports while gently challenging clients to help achieve their potential and allows the therapeutic process to be a partnership with open dialogue.

Areas of Expertise
AnxietyAnxiety is a natural response, but for many of us, our brains and bodies are over-perfoming in this area to help keep us safe. Counseling can assist in better understanding our fear and fight-or-flight response to help us recalibrate our responses and better cope when fear, anxiety, and panic arise.
TraumaResearch has shown that trauma is stored not only in our minds but also in our bodies. Trauma can occur from a singular event or consolidated events over time. Trauma treatment involves understanding trauma's impact to our nervous system and our brains and bodies and utilizing the mind and body together to heal from our past.
Life TransitionsIt's common for life transitions to bring on stress and defaulting to unhealthy coping mechanisms or patterns. Therapeutic support while navigating significant changes in your life can help you thrive amidst the changes and be the best version of yourself, and identifying personal values can help you make decisions that guide you towards a more fulfilling life.

Relationships
Much of our lives are based upon the relationships that we have with others. Many struggle with forming healthy, positive relationships as well as setting and maintaining boundaries and employing effective communication techniques. Therapy can help you explore your own identity and who you are in relationships with others.
